When will INCARNATION be ready?

Back in February, I mentioned completing the 2nd draft of my manuscript for Incarnation: Wandering Stars Volume One. By now, you’re probably wondering when it’s going to be available for sale. Believe me—I’m asking myself the same thing on a daily basis!

Weeks ago, I began receiving edited copies from my Beta-Readers. With some great feedback, I went immediately to work fixing punctuation, grammar, tense, and all the usual stuff that gets missed when you stare at a computer screen for months-on-end. But I also noticed something else. Between the corrections, behind the comments and suggestions, I saw an opportunity for improvement.

Not just for the story, but for myself as an author.

I could have ignored it, fixed the typos, and moved on with publication. But I don’t want to be that kind of author—someone who just writes the next episode in a series of cheap entertainment. I’m hoping for more. I’m striving to create realistic characters and detailed worlds—where imagination is free to roam. Somewhere readers can get lost and, in the process, discover something about themselves and their own lives.

I’m pushing myself to build an epic saga that will be meaningful to both reader and author.

So, I purchased and read through some educational books on writing in an effort to hone my craft. Hopefully, it will pay off and the extra work will be evident in my writing. Now I’m back to editing and already, I can tell that my eyes have been opened to another level of this art form.

So, when is it going to be ready?

Good question. I’ve stopped mentioning dates because the real answer is: “as soon as possible, and not a moment sooner.” I won’t publish something that I’m not satisfied with. And I’m sure many of you expect nothing less.

Thanks for being patient!

As much as I want the book to be out so I can get lost in the series again... I appreciate your need and desire for the book/s to be the absolute best you can write!

Keep it up! (and pear... peas... please get it perfected soon!)

No one is as excited to see the finished story as I am. Thanks so much for your patience!

Hi Jason,

I think you have a very, very solid chance of getting yourself a publishing deal shortly. I am not the type to lavish praise, get groupy like with an author, etc.

But I just finished your 3 books and honestly don't even know when or why I downloaded the first free one. I think it was on my kindle for a while. But I read all three in the last few days and am very impressed.

So thank you for the hard work. I think good things are coming your way (and have already started). Let's just say more good things :).

Hi Stefan,

Thanks so much for your encouragement!

With all the changes in the publishing world right now, I'd have to think very carefully about any offers from a major publishing house. The benefits vs. drawbacks of the traditional publishing business model are quite alarming to say the least. Either way, you'll see a lot more books from me on the market!

I'm glad you enjoyed the Awakened books. And thanks for the note!

I just finished reading The Awakened, and I have to admit I'm really looking forward to reading Incarnation when it comes out. Thank you so MUCH for not being one of the authors that just cranks out book after book just to make money, but one who is truly interested in the craft of writing a good story. It's been a while since I have read a book that I truly enjoyed watching unfold. Because of all that, I'll wait as patiently as I can... We'll see how that works. ;)

I just finished reading The Awakened and I have to say I am impressed with your writing. I downloaded book one because it was free, but as soon as I was done reading it I downloaded books 2 and 3. I love the series and wish you were working on book 4 instead of a prequel. However, I support your decision to release a prequel. Like other readers, I have a lot of questions about
Saba. Thank you for taking the time to write quality books. I look forward to reading your next book.

Glad you enjoyed the books. I'm still trying to decide if there's any possible way to continue both series at the same time. There are some major technical issues with this, but I'm thinking about it.
